Frequently Asked Question
Crop factor for Tau Core based sensors
Last Updated 6 years ago
All systems based on FLIR Tau2 sensors have a crop factor, since the bolometer sensor is smaller than the 35mmx24mm film form factor. So the given focal length of those systems has to be multiplied with the corresponding crop factor to get the 35mm film equivalent:
35mm diagonal = 43,3mm
Tau2 640x512 diagonal = 13,93mm => Crop factor = 3,1
Tau2 336x256 diagonal = 7,18mm => Crop factor = 6
Tau2 324x256 diagonal = 10,32mm => Crop factor = 4,2
35mm diagonal = 43,3mm
Tau2 640x512 diagonal = 13,93mm => Crop factor = 3,1
Tau2 336x256 diagonal = 7,18mm => Crop factor = 6
Tau2 324x256 diagonal = 10,32mm => Crop factor = 4,2
